The Troll Brain pretends to be dead

Do you know that feeling when someone rings your door bell but you feel like you don’t have the energy to socialise anymore? Socialising means you have to adapt. It means you have to engage in small talk, which is something that is particularly difficult for people on the spectrum. However, it can also be difficult for “neurotypicals”- we all have individual energy levels and sometimes we just don’t feel like seeing other people and it’s ok! This doesn’t mean we should be rude, but it’s ok to decide to take a break and not to interact with other people. If our energy levels are still sufficient, obviously, we should let people know what’s going on so they don’t take it personally.
